During Basic I, the instructors will discuss and show the contents of a complete makeup artist kit; and the importance of gathering research for inspiration in a “look book” will be stressed. Proper hygiene and sanitation practices will be introduced in Basic I and carried throughout all courses taught at the School. Basic Makeup I begins with information and rules/procedures regarding hygiene and sanitation to prevent cross-contamination, which may lead to infection. Skin types will be identified and prepped (for foundation) accordingly. Following an introduction to color and light theory, various foundations will be selected according to the evaluation of skin type and temperature undertone. Students will learn the basics of facial anatomy, and will learn the fundamentals of eyes, lips and cheeks to complete a natural, as well as an enhanced, evening look.
